Sagittarius Black- Stylin #throwback Thursday

I love the lyrics on this song! I stay stylin. Sagittarius Black is my favorite rapper. He got witty lyrics and such a demanding presence through his music. I love the fact that his music is positive and the movement he’s pushing is Hip Hope. Its a beautiful thing. I know no other artist whose endured so much and continues to press forward. Truly an inspiration, you will rise in whatever you do. New project coming out soon. This was from his 1st album The Burden of Proof. #Brooklyn

Lyricist, Artist, Poets Take Notes ..Sagittarius Black The Ides of December ..Lyrics Breakdown

In an industry that is now based on dumb down lyrics and idiocracy its refreshing to hear witty lyrics and fierce wordplay as executed by Sagittarius Black. For his recent Mixtape there are 5 of the most membrable quotes and their breakdown. Also download the Mixtape if you haven’t already at the link below.

Song: December 4th Remix

Line: “… Now I know why the caged bird sings, I’m on the verge of a breakthrough, breaking through ceilings, F$&@ feelings, everybody got em, steady running from Gommorah, often you find Sodom…”

Sag uses a Maya Angelou poem and biblical references to open the Ides of December EP. He tells us he finally feels free after escaping a bad situation he ended up in one that was worse.

Song: Put Ya Hands Up
Line: “Been fallin off Hip Hop, had to see the reverend, forget Wall Street, Heavy’s occupying heaven…”

Bam this track has another religious reference. Is Sag tryna take us to church? We don’t think so but it sets up the “Heavy occupying Heaven” line cleverly.

Song: Celebration

Line: “… Poll’s in, girls on poles and they posing, taking off they clothes and hop in jacuzzis… It’s 2010 Juicy!!”

Song: Most Heart

Line: “… They said the burden was minimal, my subliminals, too creative, indie native like a Seminole…”

Although it was a solid piece of work, Sags first project Burden of Proof wasn’t received as well as he would’ve liked. He reminds us he’s an independent artist and he’s not ashamed of it.

Song: Face in the Crowd

Line: “… Don’t give up, you have so much to give, more than a writer you’re a fighter with a gift, y’all don’t know I just wanna make you proud, til then I’m just another face in the crowd…”

This is the EP’s dramatic finish. Not clever in the least but Sag’s emotion is undeniable. He’s a fighter who’s never throwing in the towel.

Throwback Thursday!!! Goapele “Closer to my Dreams” ft Sagittarius Black

I fell in love with this version. Sagittarius Black is someone many ppl can relate to. I also loved the smoothness of his voice and delivery. His lyrics are clever and give inspiration. This remix is way better than Drakes version FYI.

Remember Remember the Ides of December, Sagittarius Black’s Latest Masterpiece

Friends, Brooklyn, Country Men… LISTEN “Remember, remember the Ides of December…”. The Ides of December is set to keep Sagittarius Black’s name on the tips of our tongues for years to come. As usual, Sag doesn’t disappoint. No need to skip any track, The Ides plays straight through. Black’s Ides of December is full of storytelling and lyricism that allow you to envision what he is saying and feeling. Sagittarius Black said it right “…HBlendz beats will seduce you”. The music finds a way to grab you and put you in a trance. Sag shows growth by allowing emotion to pierce through his wordplay and performance. The Ides of December starts off right with his “December 4th” remix. When I first heard it, I thought to myself “that was beautiful”. His conversational tone makes you feel close. The uptempo songs such as “Celebration, “The Bounce” & “Put Your Hands Up” are fun and full of witty lyrics. Sag doesn’t dumb it down for anyone. “Most Heart” is another beautiful track full of passion and hunger. It sets the stage for the EPs dramatic close. “Thuggish Ruggish” is a hard track, one of my personal favorites because once again Sagittarius Black shows versatility. He completely switches up his flow and murders that beat. Finally, he ends the Ides of December mixtape with “Face in the Crowd”. As I heard this song I was creating a music video in my head. Special shout out to singer P. Jewel who blessed “Most Heart” and “Face in the Crowd” with her soulful voice. I must say this is the best project I’ve heard from Sagittarius Black thus far.
